This article explored the concept of humility in Japan and how it is manifested in everyday life. It discussed the importance of respect and honor in Japanese culture, as well as how Japanese people demonstrate their respect for others through bowing, using honorific language and indirect speech. Additionally, it highlighted the strong sense of obligation that many Japanese people have towards others, as well as how humility is valued in the workplace. Finally, it discussed self-esteem issues among some individuals due to societal expectations placed upon them from an early age.
