When it comes to anime characters who enjoy a good drink, there are a few who really shine. Whether it’s for comic relief, emotional depth, or just pure fun, these characters know how to handle their liquor (or maybe not!). From the legendary Sannin to everyday drinkers, let’s explore anime’s most iconic booze lovers!
10. Nao Kiriyama – Takunomi
Nao Kiriyama from Takunomi is your go-to fun-loving girl who’s always ready for a drink after a long day.
The show might not be the most famous, but it absolutely captures the booze culture. Nao enjoys everything from local beers to trying out fancy cocktails, and she’s become quite the expert. She’s also the perfect drinking companion for Michiru, who’s new to Tokyo, guiding her through the world of good drinks and good times.

With its cute, relaxed vibe, Takunomi makes drinking look fun, and Nao’s easy-going, carefree attitude makes her the best person to hang out with—whether you’re out or just enjoying a drink at home.
9. Revy – Black Lagoon
Ah, Revy. If you’ve watched Black Lagoon, you already know she’s one of the toughest characters out there, and her love for alcohol is as intense as her affinity for violence. This hard-as-nails mercenary never hesitates to have a drink, especially when she’s unwinding after a particularly chaotic job.
Moreover, her drinking isn’t just for show—it’s part of her rebellious, carefree spirit. Observing Revy handle herself in battle with a bottle in hand is quite a sight. Talk about a woman who drinks like a pro!
8. Kobayashi – Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
Kobayashi is just your typical office worker, except she lives with a dragon-turned-maid. And, naturally, she LOVES her drinks. Whether it’s wine, beer, or something stronger, Kobayashi’s ability to handle her alcohol is part of her charm.
The show uses her drinking moments to illustrate how she can be just as laid-back and simple as her dragon companions are magical and eccentric. Plus, those scenes of her getting tipsy are hilarious and add an extra layer of humor to the everyday slice-of-life moments in the series. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to drink with Kobayashi after a long day at work?
7. Tsunade – Naruto
Tsunade’s drinking habits are basically legendary in the Naruto world. As one of the Three Legendary Sannin, she’s well-known for outdrinking just about anyone, and her “drunken gambling” moments have become iconic.
It’s almost a running joke how much Tsunade loves to drink, but it also offers insight into her deeper character. Beneath her tough, no-nonsense Hokage exterior, she’s grappling with significant emotional pain, and the booze is her way of coping. But hey, at least she’s got her liquor tolerance down—when she’s not stumbling around or throwing a tantrum, of course!
6. Holo – Spice and Wolf
One of Holo’s quirks is her fondness for alcohol. She’s frequently depicted sipping on mead or wine, often in a playful, teasing manner with Lawrence. Her drinking isn’t just about having a good time; it reflects her profound nostalgia for Yoitsu, her homeland.
In fact, it’s in these moments that Holo feels more relatable, showing that even goddesses have their vulnerabilities.
5. Yasuko Takasu – Toradora

Speaking of great moms, Yasuko from Toradora definitely knows how to have a good time and bring fun into every scene she appears in. Sure, Yasuko may not be as responsible as Junko, leaving much of the domestic duties to her child — although YOU try stopping Ryuuji from cleaning up! But in her defense, drinking isn’t just leisure; it’s part of her job (I need to find a job like that), and she works quite hard.
Yasuko clearly cares about her son and offers all the moral and emotional support he requires, which is considerably more than can be said about any other parent in this series. She’s doing her best, and it shows; for all his issues, Ryuuji is by far the most well-adjusted kid around.
4. Misato Katsuragi – Neon Genesis Evangelion
It can be argued that Misato has very clear reasons to drink. Surviving in NGE without a decent buzz seems nearly impossible. Despite being inebriated most of the time and having nothing but a gallon of beer in her fridge, Misato remains professional, lighthearted, and surprisingly dependable under intense pressure.
In fact, a bit of liquor acts as her good luck charm. Just look at what happens when she decides to switch to coffee instead near the end of the series—it’s the literal end of the world!
3. Dot Pixis – Attack on Titan
There’s a fascinating aspect of the AoT universe that often gets overlooked—the abundance of resources implied by the fact that all of humanity lives under siege.
We know that food is scarce, and citizens have to be sacrificed sometimes to sustain the rest, so where does Dot Pixis get his seemingly endless supplies of alcohol?
This man practically lives with his hand on a flask and thinks nothing of taking a swig right during a serious conversation. I’m not saying that’s wrong, but given the circumstances, perhaps he should consider using some of that grain to bake bread instead.
2. Cana Alberona – Fairy Tail
That said, Dot Pixis could learn a thing or two from Cana. This girl knows how to stay hydrated. It would be easier to tally the scenes where she isn’t drinking, though that doesn’t seem to slow her down in the slightest. In fact, it hardly affects her at all.
I can’t help but feel a bit sorry for her; maintaining a buzz must cost a fortune since she appears nearly impervious to the effects of alcohol. Maybe she’s like Bender and would actually suffer from alcohol withdrawal instead?
1. Aqua – KonoSuba
Well, we know what happens to yokai after a few drinks, but what about goddesses? Pure awesomeness—that’s what happens. As a goddess endowed with divine beauty and infinite wisdom, Aqua understands what’s important. So, whenever she has a few coins to spare, she knows just how to use them.
Aqua hoards alcohol, hunts for premium bottles, and never forgets to celebrate a successfully completed quest at the pub. She also happens to be a fantastic drunk—happy and entertaining. She dazzles crowds with spectacular magic and even has the unique talent of vomiting rainbows. Yes, you heard that right—when she gets wasted, she pukes rainbows! Life goals!
