The Whoever Steals This Book (Kono Hon o Nusumu Mono wa) anime film has released its main trailer and main visual.
The latest previews of the fantasy adventure were accompanied by the announcement of YUKI‘s “Share” as the theme song (featured in the new trailer) along with Rin Kataoka and Sora Tamaki‘s castings as lead characters Mifuyu and Mashiro, respectively.
©️2025 深緑野分／KADOKAWA／「この本を盗む者は」製作委員会Whoever Steals This Book is scheduled to premiere on December 26, 2025 JST, after being moved up from its original 2026 release date. It is based on the KADOKAWA-published book by Nowaki Fukamidori, which tells the story of book-averse high school girl Mifuyu as she attempts to rescue her town from a curse unleashed by a theft that drags it into the realm of fiction.
The book was initially published in 2020. Yen Press, which has also licensed the manga adaptation by Kakeru Sora, summarizes the premise as follows:
Mifuyu is a high school student who resides with a vast collection of books left by her great-grandfather within the expansive library known as Mikura Hall. Though her father manages it, Mifuyu does not share her family’s enthusiasm for literature. However, when a number of books go missing from the library, triggering an ancient curse, the town metamorphoses into the worlds described within those stories—and the only means to restore balance is for Mifuyu to apprehend the thief. With the assistance of a mysterious girl named Mashiro, Mifuyu embarks on an adventure through various tales!
