16 Best Isekai Harem Anime to Watch for the Ultimate Fantasy!

16 Best Isekai Harem Anime to Watch for the Ultimate Fantasy!

Isekai harem represents an intriguing subgenre in the realm of anime that merges two well-loved anime tropes: isekai (which means ‘other world’) and harem (ahem.. you know what that means).

In these narratives, the protagonist is whisked away from their mundane existence to a fantastical world, or at times just another ordinary realm, where they become the “center of gravity” for a plethora of alluring, and often excessively powerful, women.

Typically, in an isekai harem anime, our hero isn’t merely on a mission to save the world; they are also encircled by a flock of stunning women. Imagine sword-wielding fighters, captivating mages, and maybe even cat-eared demi-humans (because…… yes).

Every woman has her own motivations for falling relentlessly for the hero – perhaps they see him as their ONE AND ONLY prophesied champion, gifted with a distinctive ability, or simply radiating charm in this unfamiliar world.

But this isn’t just any phone. It can translate languages and access the internet (somehow… even though it doesn’t exist there?).

The most exciting aspect? This world is brimming with magic, sword fighters, and, of course, stunning women, with Touya finding himself quickly surrounded by them all drawn to him!! (irl when?).

Although Touya isn’t strategically seeking to cultivate a harem, these girls become his close allies as he journeys through this thrilling new world.

15. GATE

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite

GATE, or Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri, draws us into the world of a geeky soldier named Youji Itami. While on his way to a doujin convention in Ginza, Tokyo, a mysterious portal in the form of a massive gate suddenly manifests.

His new reality is teeming with knights, mages, and various creatures you’d only find in books.

From this gate, supernatural beings and armored warriors storm through the metropolis, wreaking havoc and destruction in their wake. Youji quickly acts to save as many lives as possible, while the rest of the JSDF focus their energies on halting the invasion.

Although Youji isn’t precisely on the lookout for romance, he does capture the interest of several ladies. Among them is Pina Co Lada, a beautiful and resolute princess who initially distrusts Youji but eventually comes to admire his abilities.

Then there’s Lelei La Lalena, an enchanting mage who is captivated by Youji’s understanding of their realm from his fantasy novels. And we mustn’t forget Rory Mercury.

GATE is an engaging anime that fuses military action with fantasy elements. The harem dimension is light-hearted, with the women more akin to intriguing allies than romantic pursuits. So if that’s what you seek, GATE is definitively worth your time!

14. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

How to not Summon a Demon Lord

Ever played a virtual reality game so immersive it transported you to another realm? Well, that’s essentially what this anime entails! Takuma is unexpectedly summoned by two young summoners, Rem and Shera.

The primary issue? They weren’t expecting to summon a “Demon Lord.” Equipped with the game’s rarest artifacts and an unmatched player level, it should be obvious that he was nearly unbeatable.

Takuma, still in his demon lord persona complete with horns and fangs (thanks to the VR game), discovers that most individuals fear him. However, Rem and Shera recognize that Takuma is genuinely a laid-back guy under the demon lord garb.

Now, Takuma isn’t particularly seeking to establish a harem, yet being a formidable demon lord (albeit merely a costume) does come with perks.

The amusement of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord lies in watching Takuma navigate his circumstance. He leverages his gaming wisdom and surprisingly potent magic (from the VR game) to tackle challenges and impress the women, even if he’d prefer to be tucked away playing games back home.

13. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest

“Attack of the Bad CGI“

Awakened with the feeblest magic, Hajime Nagumo encounters a horrifying reality – one of his classmates, endowed with tremendous power, intends to abandon him to a monster-riddled abyss. In the oppressive depths of the dungeon, Hajime clings to one singular ambition – survival.

His so-called “pathetic” skill transforms into his new instrument of retribution.

While delving into the dungeon, he encounters a mysterious vampire princess named Yue who becomes his steadfast companion after he liberates her from her curse.

Intrigued by him, Yue and a few others accompany Hajime on his quest to find a way back home, while gradually evolving from being commonplace to becoming the world’s strongest.

Unlike the other series on this list, Hajime is romantically inclined towards Yue, while LITERALLY EVERY GIRL in his party has designs on him. The harem element exists, but it is secondary to the exhilarating battles, dark themes of betrayal, and Hajime’s relentless quest for vengeance.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest is a fitting choice for those interested in Isekai Harem anime, despite some segments of CGI falling short…

12. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

Picture being remarkably strong in your original life only to get isekai-ed and become EVEN MORE POWERFUL! Our protagonist, referred to as “Lugh” in his new existence, retains all the skills and memories from his previous life.

Having vowed lifelong allegiance to the organization that nurtured him, Lugh is betrayed by that very organization, which acted to silence him, ultimately leading to his demise.

Assigned with the mission to eliminate the hero of that world, Lugh selects a “skill-set” he believes will be most fitting for the job. Reborn as “Lugh Tuatha Dé”, the offspring of a noble family of assassins serving the Alvan Kingdom, Lugh acquires new assassination techniques that vastly differ from the cold-hearted and unfeeling killing methods of his previous life.

While Lugh isn’t currently seeking romance, his assassin reputation (even as a child!!) and his “coolness” (please share some) attract attention. The anime primarily focuses on Lugh’s struggle to carve out his niche in this new world.

There are a few rough edges in this anime, including some tedious moments and unnecessary awkwardness. However, this doesn’t imply that the anime lacks compelling segments!

The MC must earn his affection rather than being handed it as though it were an inheritance. The narrative isn’t afraid to delve into darker or intricate themes when necessary, showcasing how clever the MC can be when the need arises! Being somewhat underrated, it is by no means something to overlook.

11. Fate/Grand Order

Fate/Grand Order

Before you start questioning “WHY IS FATE INCLUDED? FATE IS NOT AN ISEKAI SERIES!!”, Fate/GO can be viewed as an isekai since our main cast traverses through various worlds/timelines.

The other Fate series could be called a “reverse isekai”, but Fate/GO feels more like an isekai, even if it deviates from traditional forms. Also, I’m biased.

Well, it’s time for some history lessons! From female Leonardo da Vinci to gigachad Gilgamesh, and the ever-popular Astolfo (a wise man once remarked, “sometimes it takes a real man to be the best waifu”), Fate encapsulates it all (feels like an unpaid promotion at this point).

Imagine taking on the role of a fresh-faced Master, summoned to the magical realm of Chaldea. The world teeters on the verge of destruction, and it’s up to you, along with a squad of powerful Servants (those historical and mythical figures I previously mentioned), to save it by traveling across various worlds/timelines to rectify specific issues.

That’s precisely what our main character Ritsuka Fujimaru is tasked with.

There are numerous female Servants (and males too) who are absolute powerhouses, and some begin to develop feelings for Ritsuka. However, the focus primarily revolves around teamwork and the spectacular battles they face together. Don’t even get me started on Artoria (Saber variant… naturally). I could write an extensive essay and still have more to say.

Fate/Grand Order is a wild escapade through time packed with action, historical references, and a smidgen of character camaraderie. The harem element revolves more around camaraderie between the MC and the Servants as they battle to save humanity.

So, if you’re searching for an anime with an ENORMOUS cast, fabulous voice talent, and mind-blowing animations, look no further because FATE/GO is your destination. And if that’s not quite what you’re after, you’d still better watch the anime or else…. *holds at gunpoint*

Note: Want to delve deeper into the world of FGO completely? (the anime omits several story elements) Consider playing the game!

10. The Rising of the Shield Hero

The Rising of the Shield Hero

Betrayed and broken. That’s how our protagonist, Naofumi Iwatani, begins in The Rising of the Shield Hero. Wrongfully accused of a heinous crime by the very nation that summoned him, he faces ostracism and mockery. Cut this man some slack !!

Instead of succumbing to despair, Naofumi chooses to rebuild. Channeling his rage and frustration into mastering his sole skill – the Shield, Naofumi embarks on a new adventure.

Naofumi’s journey isn’t solitary. Along the way, he gathers a team. Raphtalia, a demi-human girl he liberates from slavery, serves as his loyal and adept swordswoman. Filo, another demi-human sporting bird-like traits, who later morphs into a charming little girl.

While there’s a subtle romantic tension between Naofumi and Raphtalia, it’s a slow burn compared to the blazing fire of Naofumi’s quest for justice.

His overarching goal is to clear his name and prove his credibility. The harem element is understated, remaining in the background while the exhilarating battles, strategic maneuvers, and Naofumi’s unyielding quest for justice dominate the narrative.

9. Tsukimichi – Moonlit Fantasy

Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy

Tsukimichi – Moonlit Fantasy is your standard isekai anime executed fantastically. After a visit from a deity named Tsukuyomi, Misumi Makoto finds himself supposed to transition to another reality, only to be rejected by the world’s goddess for being “ugly.”

But instead of returning home, he faces banishment to a desolate wasteland with nothing in his possession.

However, he isn’t entirely devoid of luck! While stripped of his ability to communicate with “hyumans” (humans, but in that world), he receives incredible powers from the deity introduced initially.

Now, in terms of the harem aspect, while Makoto doesn’t express romantic interests towards any of the female characters, that sentiment isn’t reciprocated by them. We have Tomoe, a LITERAL DRAGON, Mio, a GIANT SPIDER, Ema, an…. orc (not as impressive.. but hey! Saori Hayami was the voice actor!), and several more!

Even if the animation quality during certain moments is a bit above average, the genuine story and characters more than compensate for it.

One might enter expecting something trivial, but instead, they’ll uncover a truly decent Isekai.

8. Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs

Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs

After countless days of grinding, our MC finally completes an otome game. What was the cost? SLEEP AND SANITY! Our MC tumbles down stairs and simply… dies!

Fortunately (or perhaps not), he is reincarnated into the very same game he was obsessing over. And thus commences the tale of “Leon Fou Bartfort” after being “Trapped in a Dating Sim,” not as a primary character, but as a MOB CHARACTER.

Since Leon is aware of how the narrative unfolds, he commits to following through. To his surprise, rather than the girl anticipated to be the female protagonist, another character unexpectedly takes center stage in a crucial scene.

Puzzled, Leon decides to investigate, but first, he takes lessons on how to organize a “Tea Ceremony” (VERY IMPORTANT STUFF TRUST ME…).

So… is this considered a harem? Well, from Leon’s perspective, YES. Although boys typically aim to impress ladies in this anime, culminating in what we recognize as a “reverse-harem,” Leon, being the absolute CHAD he is, construct a harem of his own as the story advances!

This isekai, while resembling traditional ones, is distinctly unique in its own right. There are no “Power of Friendship” or “We are alike” or “Let’s be friends and stop fighting” sentiments here. Just Leon mercilessly dominating anyone who dares to confront him, all while maintaining the utmost cockiness (you’d be arrogant in those situations too, trust me… and IT IS SATISFYING).

Picture bringing a shovel into a sword duel and defeating five of the top mechas with an Antique piece of “art.”

This anime is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT as it encompasses the isekai element, the harem aspect, and is packed with satisfaction and humor. GO WATCH IT!

7. The Eminence in Shadow

The Eminence in Shadow

Sometimes it takes the side characters to shine as the main characters. Such is the case in the anime series “The Eminence in Shadow.” The previous statement is somewhat accurate. Why? NO SPOILERS! WATCH THE ANIME YOURSELF.

The series kicks off with our main character “Cid” selectively isekai-ing himself with a little assistance from our beloved companion “Truck-kun.” Why? He perceived himself as too weak. Not weak as a human, but unable to survive a nuclear blast independently.

Upon reincarnation, he hatches a plan – construct a faux cult and covertly annihilate the fabricated foes to solidify his legend. Consequently, Cid establishes the “Shadow Garden,” which unexpectedly flourishes! He not only creates a harem within his organization, but also develops romantic connections outside of his “Shadow” persona.

The anime’s centerpiece lies in Cid’s extravagant chuunibyo disposition and his absurd masterplan. Harboring the illusion of being a “side-character” yet still emerging as the protagonist, the anime is both amusing and intense, containing moments of fan service.

If you seek an isekai brimming with a unique and eccentric lead, action-packed scenarios, and a sprinkle of harem comedy, this series is undoubtedly worth your attention.

6. Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!

Konosuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World!

As Kazuma saves an innocent individual from a dire accident by sacrificing himself, he feels proud as he is reincarnated into another world, OR SO HE BELIEVED!

Did the truck hit that “innocent individual”? The vehicle halted before it could even approach the person. Kazuma getting struck? He succumbed to shock upon contemplating his sacrifice while embarrassing himself in the process.

Though his demise may seem comically pathetic, he opts to start afresh in a new world. His stats? He possesses extraordinary Luck. His exact stats? 13 Strength, 12 Health, 9 Magic Power, 14 Dexterity, 15 Agility and 792 Luck at level 1 (yes, I did read the card).

Forming a group of 4 comprising Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness, they embark on their new journey, tackling various quests and commissions.

The interplay between Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness drives the chaotic adventures in Konosuba, with each character balancing out the others in some way. The harem element in Konosuba primarily serves to enhance the comedic aspect of the narrative rather than being a genuine romantic pursuit.

Featuring a delightful blend of humor, clever writing, and tons of laughs, Konosuba is an absolute MUST WATCH for any anime enthusiast!

5. No Game No Life (and no season 2)

No Game No Life

This is an isekai anime featuring not one, but two MCs! Sora and Shiro are inseparable siblings who dominate numerous online games under the username “Blank.”

As they were engaged in a game of chess on their computer, they are abruptly transported to another realm where Tet (the God of the World) greets them with a parachute-less free fall (what a fantastic start…).

Once Tet departs, Sora and Shiro begin their quest for information and a place to stay, eventually leading them to Elkia – the last standing kingdom of Imanity (That world’s version of “Humanity”) as they lost all their territory to rival races.

This new realm thrives on competition, and Sora and Shiro rapidly ascend through the ranks, conquering every game they encounter. They employ their cunning intellect and a plethora of games they’ve mastered to outsmart adversaries and challenge the very fabric of this game-consumed existence.

The harem in No Game No Life persists more in the background. The females who admire Sora for his intellect and unparalleled skills are more akin to companions rather than romantic interests. Nonetheless, that doesn’t detract from the entertainment!

No Game No Life is an isekai that beautifully melds the satisfaction of a well-executed game, outsmarting opponents, the excitement of competition, and a sprinkle of fan service here and there. Although it’s slightly underrated compared to the others, “NGNL” is not something to overlook!

WILL SEASON 2 EVER COME OUT ??

4. Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World

Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World

Re:Zero offers a twist on the typical isekai fantasy. Subaru Natsuki, our protagonist, finds himself reincarnated in another world following a visit to a market. While you’d anticipate our MC to gain at least a few useful skills, Subaru acquires one terrifying ability – “Return by Death.”

What it does is fairly obvious upon reading the name. After dying, Subaru reverts to a pre-defined “checkpoint” in his day-to-day life. Although the ability appears advantageous, Subaru is weak and helpless due to lacking any combat abilities, resulting in frequent deaths.

Feeling disheartened, Subaru meets a silver-haired half-elf named Emilia. There it is! Someone Subaru could protect and genuinely cares for. He begins utilizing his “Return by Death” to his benefit, learning from every demise, strategizing, and gradually unraveling the perils that threaten Emilia’s existence.

While Emilia is the central character with whom Subaru forms a bond, there are also other female characters like Rem, a blue-haired maid who initially appears shy but later falls in love with Subaru, displaying remarkable loyalty towards him.

Wait who’s Rem? (please watch the anime for context)

Re:Zero dives into the darker and psychological nuances of constant death and despair. The harem element here is more about the connections he forges and the friendships built through adversity and continuous sacrifices, which ultimately add depth and richness to the characters and their relationships.

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World stands as one of the finest isekai anime in general, featuring a beautifully crafted narrative and exceptional execution, along with stunning animations, visuals, and, of course, music! Believe me, you shouldn’t overlook this anime.

3. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

After leading a modest life, our main character Satoru Mikami meets an unfortunate destiny after attempting to save a colleague. His final wish? To dispose of his hard drive (RELATABLE ISN’T IT?).

As he departs, he hears a peculiar voice in his head, leading to his reincarnation in a different realm, not as a Demon Lord or Demi Human or even a human, but as a feeble Slime!

But do not underestimate him as he now possesses the ability to absorb and duplicate anything, later acquiring even more powers throughout the narrative.

Despite his slimy appearance, Rimuru Tempest (the name he adopts later) is no pushover. He can devour any being and gain immense strength, courtesy of that “Strange Voice” earlier acknowledged, now known as “Great Sage,” which aids him in navigating this fantastical land.

While Rimuru interacts with several female characters, including Shion, Shuna, Milim, and of course, we can’t forget Shizue, Rimuru’s “Destined One,” romance isn’t a focal point. The true essence of the story revolves around Rimuru’s rise to power and his aspiration to establish a peaceful coexistence between humans and monsters.

With a compelling plot, beautiful visuals, and outstanding music along with a stellar cast of voice actors, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the top anime to catch, appealing to both isekai and harem enthusiasts.

2. Overlord

Overlord

From being a Gamer to transforming into an Undead Overlord, this anime narrates the captivating, intense, yet occasionally comedic journey of Ainz Oowl Gown, formerly recognized as Momonga (within the game, his actual name remains a mystery).

Upon realizing he has become stuck in the VRMMO Yggdrasil after the servers terminated, he now embarks on a quest to locate any friends who may exist in the world of Yggdrasil. Talk about a logout button malfunction!

Overlord examines the line separating fantasy realms and the real world as Momonga traverses this uncharted environment. Not to mention he’s extraordinarily overpowered for his realm. The anime encompasses everything! A gripping story? Yes! Hilarious moments? Absolutely! Fan Service? You bet! Spectacular Animations? WITHOUT A DOUBT! What else could one desire?

What about the Harem, you ask? DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED! I’ll just mention ONE word – “Albedo”.

Overlord is an entertaining isekai anime with a distinctive premise. It’s a lighthearted exploration of the typical power fantasy, combined with the isekai genre, emphasizing the humor in an ordinary individual thrust into an extraordinary setting and all the resulting social awkwardness.

1. Mushoku Tensei (Jobless Reincarnation)

Mushoku Tensei

Mushoku Tensei, also referred to as Jobless Reincarnation, exemplifies an “Isekai Harem” anime. Trust me, this is your BEST OPTION. Why? Let’s delve into it!

After being struck by a truck while attempting to save a girl, our primary character, now known as Rudeus Greyrat in his new life, is reincarnated as a baby in a world replete with magic and demons. Rudeus, determined not to repeat the mistakes of his past life, begins mastering the fundamentals of magic, advancing slowly yet steadily.

Having captured both the significant and minor events of Rudeus’ life with equal importance, it’s no surprise that Mushoku Tensei is regarded as one of the premier isekai anime available. But what about the Harem? Well, as of the publication date of this article, the “anime” hasn’t extensively explored the “Harem” aspect yet, but trust me, it will arrive shortly! (it’s in the manga… so let’s wait for the anime to catch up!!)

Mushoku Tensei, or Jobless Reincarnation, is a remarkable isekai that dives into themes of redemption, self-improvement, and the power of second chances. This is the ultimate Isekai Harem anime offering a perfect blend of captivating storytelling, world-building, fan service, combat scenes, humor, music, voice acting… let me catch my breath for a moment… You get the idea! So, why not dive right in? This anime deserves every moment of your attention!

BONUS TIME!

Here are a few “Bonus” isekai anime with harem elements!

0. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt a Kingdom: This narrative follows Souma Kazuya and his efforts to revitalize a kingdom plagued by financial struggles and food shortages using his “realist” principles. By the way, “Polygamy” is permissible in this universe (just saying…. *wink face*)

-1. Farming Life in Another World: After succumbing to a terminal illness in his hospital bed, Hiraku Machio is reincarnated into another realm by a God where he can lead a life of his choosing. Eager to try his hand at farming in this new existence, he is endowed with an all-encompassing “Almighty Farming Tool” capable of transforming into any useful implement he desires.

-2 Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World: I refuse to elaborate on this anime. The premise is exactly what you envision.
P.S: DO NOT WATCH THIS ANIME WITH YOUR FAMILY!

Conclusion

Make sure to Sharpen your “Magic Sword” 😉
Things need sharpening after being used a lot, right? Especially if it’s a sword! Be sure to read, comment, and share the article with your dear friends!

Until then,
Sayonara
