Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. (MBS) has unveiled a new trailer ahead of the theatrical and streaming Season 2 debut of the blockbuster anime series Dan Da Dan. The updated trailer showcases a snippet of the new opening theme song “On The Way,” crafted specifically for this next chapter of the series by J-Pop sensation AiNA THE END.
AiNA THE END began her journey as a part of the punk-rock ensemble BiSH and has since released several highly praised albums as a solo performer. Apart from her work with BiSH, she has lent her voice to numerous globally recognized artists, including Kenshi Yonezu, TK from Ling tosite sigure, Mondo Grosso, and Sugizo. In 2023, her singles “Red:birthmark” and “Ai Kotoba” featured prominently in the successful anime series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Season 2 and The Apothecary Diaries, respectively.
“I am thrilled to announce that I have composed ‘On The Way,’ the opening theme for the second season of Dan Da Dan,” the artist expressed. “I have a deep affection for Dan Da Dan, both the original manga and the first season of the anime series, and I am incredibly happy to have this chance. In ‘On The Way,’ I poured my heart into creating music that encapsulates the bittersweet emotions of love while struggling to safeguard what is most essential. The song also reflects the sentiments of Momo and Okarun, and I hope it serves as a source of inspiration for those feeling lost. I truly love this song!”

Synopsis: Dan Da Dan centers on Momo, a high school girl from a lineage of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an enthusiast of the occult. In this latest arc, Momo and Okarun embark on a new adventure, traveling to a hot springs town rental by Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, to unravel the mystery surrounding his family. Upon their arrival, peculiar locals obstruct their investigation before it can properly commence, and the group soon discovers there are deeper mysteries lurking within the town than they could ever have anticipated.
Inspired by Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga of the same name, currently serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus, the second season of Dan Da Dan is co-directed by Fuga Yamashiro, the director of the first season, alongside longtime Science SARU veteran Abel Gongora, who directed the opening theme animation of Season 1. Composer kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man, DEVILMAN crybaby) returns to create the score. Animation production is handled by Science SARU (DEVILMAN crybaby, Inu-Oh, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off).
The first season emerged as a global sensation in 2024, with its opening theme song “Otonoke” performed by Creepy Nuts achieving a remarkable 20-week reign at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Japan Songs chart.
As previously announced, fans can get an early glimpse of Season 2 with the theatrical presentation Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye, which will be shown in North America through GKIDS starting June 6. Other international distribution partners will initiate cinema screenings from May 30 across Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand.
Dan Da Dan Season 2 is set to stream worldwide on July 3 via ADN, Crunchyroll, Hulu, Muse, Netflix, and additional platforms. More information on each streaming service and the latest updates on DAN DA DAN will be shared through the official English-language social media accounts and platform list: https://dandadan.link/
