Japanese TV streaming platform Abema has revealed its plans to create more episodes of its Project PRISMation pilot Poppin-Play Kitchen, after it achieved a triumphant launch with millions of views on YouTube. This surreal cooking show anime has been created, directed, written, and produced by Thailand-based animator Zemyata. Alongside the sequel announcement, a newly drawn visual from the creator has been unveiled for the first time (seen above).
“Though words cannot express my excitement and gratitude for this news, I will attempt to articulate it properly: Thank you to all fans of our pilot for your support, theories, and amazing fan art of the show. It brings me immense joy to know this little project has made a significant impact on so many,” Zemyata stated in the announcement. “My team and I will certainly build on this impression. We can’t wait to reveal more of this delightful, colorful, confetti-filled world! We won’t keep you waiting long … So please, as always, stay tuned!”

Launched in January of this year, Project PRISMation serves as an initiative supporting animation creators working independently or in small teams by co-creating original anime pilot films. This project aims to help craft stories that leave a memorable impact on viewers and to encourage creative processes that inspire the creators themselves. The name, a blend of “Prism” and “Animation,” symbolizes its mission to create a space where diverse talents can unite and express their creativity, much like a prism separates white light into a spectrum of colors.
Poppin-Play Kitchen marks the debut pilot for the project. The 4’30” film achieved over 1 million total views on YouTube within just 10 days of its release, attracting attention for its distinct aesthetic, with viewers describing it as “thrilling,” “incredible quality,” “genius visuals and composition,” and “wonderfully cute and pop, yet horrifying.” It also gathered numerous comments from both domestic and international viewers, including “I’ve encountered an unbelievable masterpiece” and “I’m glad indie anime is gaining popularity in Japan too.” The pilot was nominated for the 47th Annual Telly Awards in the “People’s Telly” category. As of May 14, it has exceeded 2.13 million views on YouTube, according to Abema research.
Additionally, Project PRISMation has launched its first public call for project proposals to seek next-generation talents for co-creating new stories. The project is on the lookout for “Short Original Anime Proposals” as well as “Expansion Plans” depicting the future of the work. Projects selected through a thorough review process by Abema will receive production funding for a short original anime, along with comprehensive support to present the work to the world, including promotion and commercial expansion.
