The anime adaptation of The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System by GoHands has unveiled exclusive U.S. key art along with a second main preview trailer. Furthermore, the Season 1 ending theme is titled “Lv.1 Class: Human” by ReoNa. Comments have also been shared by both ReoNa and SPYAIR, who is responsible for the opening theme.

Stemming from the highly popular manga series created by Nekoko, BroccoLee, and Jaian, which is serialized in Kodansha’s YOUNG MAGAZINE, boasting over 3 million copies in total circulation, this anime is set to commence streaming on Crunchyroll on July 2, debuting as a two-cour broadcast.

The newly released second trailer showcases the journey of Elymas and Ruche as they strive to become the “strongest,” all while facing scorn for being members of the “defective class.” The video begins with Elymas’ impactful declaration to Ruche: “I need you.” The two develop mutual trust quickly after they meet, despite the cold gazes directed at them from fellow adventurers.

GoHands’ animation enhances the narrative, complemented by the theme songs, featuring characters dashing across the screen, and visually illustrating Elymas and Ruche powering up as they employ their skills. Watch the new trailer below.

Synopsis: The “Heavy Knight” is a class dedicated to defense, designed to draw enemy attacks to shield allies. However, even among defensive classes, its capabilities are limited, and its offensive strength is insufficient for proper leveling. Consequently, it has been labeled not just a “disadvantaged” class, but an outright “defective” one.

Born into House Edvaughn, a family of Master Swordsmen for generations, Elymas revealed the “defective” Heavy Knight class during the Baptisma — an essential rite for the heir — leading to his unjust exile and loss of status as next in line for the household.

However, in that critical moment, he regained the memories of his previous life, realizing that this world was identical to Magic World, the VR online game he had played fervently prior to his demise.

Elymas understood that the Heavy Knight was, in fact, the strongest class of all!

Now exiled from the Count’s family and embarking on his journey as a solitary adventurer, Elymas fully utilizes the knowledge from his past life, beginning his determined conquest of this new world.

ReoNa, an artist recognized for her extraordinary voice, lends her talents to perform the Season 1 ending theme for this series. She has contributed her unique vocal style to numerous anime and game projects, including the Sword Art Online series, Shadows House, and Arknights, and now adds “Lv.1 Class: Human” to her repertoire for the Heavy Knight series.

“Even when it seems to others that he has lost everything, and despite being ridiculed, he possesses unyielding knowledge. The journey Elymas takes is almost thrilling, and it inspires me,” remarked ReoNa. “Like Elymas, the song has an element of playfulness. I aspire to become somebody as well. I hope you enjoy the song along with the anime!”

SPYAIR, the group behind the opening theme “Awake,” expressed that “‘Awake’ signifies more than just ‘waking up’; it encapsulates the desire to move forward despite carrying doubts and pain. We aimed to convey the moment when stagnant emotions begin to shift, matched with an energetic sound. Our hope is that this song inspires listeners to take that first step forward.”

The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System series is directed by general director Shingo Suzuki and director Katsumasa Yokomine. The creative team also features character designers Keiji Tani and Takayuki Uchida, chief animation directors Tani and Makoto Furuta, chief director Tetsuichi Yamagishi, and lead animator Hiroshi Okubo. The series is animated by GoHands, with production led by Shochiku Anime.
