Crunchyroll has secured Season 2 of the critically acclaimed anime Witch Hat Atelier, based on Kamome Shirahama’s award-winning manga. Continuing after the ominous Brimmed Caps attack the apprentices in the Serpentback Cave, the next chapter in the series is set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Asia.
To commemorate the Season 2 announcement, Shirahama released a special illustration featuring her magical heroes.
Synopsis: In a world where only witches are able to cast magic, they must avoid being seen by ordinary people during their spells. While Coco handles her chores, she dreams of becoming a witch. When a young witch named Qifrey arrives in her village, Coco discovers the “absolute secret,” becomes Qifrey’s apprentice, and begins her magical education. This is the journey of children who face despair but reach out toward hope.

The first season of Witch Hat Atelier has received significant praise for its beautiful visual storytelling and meaningful themes of perseverance and belonging. Produced by BUG FILMS, the anime adaptation is directed by Ayumu Watanabe (Summer Time Rendering; Komi Can’t Communicate), with music composed by Yuka Kitamura (Elden Ring; Bloodborne; Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice).
The creative team also features assistant director Shun Shinohara (Heavenly Delusion; Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead), series composition writer Hiroshi Seko (DAN DA DAN; JUJUTSU KAISEN); character designer & chief animation director Kairi Unabara (SPY x FAMILY Season 3; The Heike Story), art director Ryota Goto (Suzume), color designer Naomi Nakano (The Summer Hikaru Died; Solo Leveling), and director of photography Tadashi Kitaoka (Love Live! Shirahama’s Witch Hat Atelier is an ongoing manga, which began serialization by Kodansha in 2016 and has sold over 7 million copies globally, earning multiple international awards including the Eisner Award and Harvey Award.
