Image source: @gimaiseikatsuShimai Youhei (Sisters Mercenary), a new light novel crafted by Days With My Stepsister‘s Ghost Mikawa and illustrated by kappe (aka Kanna Hirayama, the character designer of anime like OSHI NO KO and Rent-A-Girlfriend) is expected to debut on July 25 JST under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J label.
In a detailed tweet, Mikawa disclosed that Shimai Youhei will be a single-volume title, akin to a standard novel. One of the motivations behind this decision is the challenge of expanding the number of light novel series in production.
Image source: @gimaiseikatsuShimai Youhei follows two female mercenaries, one of whom is a novice recruit managing part-time jobs after leaving her home at 17. The other is a seasoned mercenary who mentors the newcomer. Mikawa indicates that the light novel concentrates on human relationships and presents depictions that convey authenticity as well as a profound understanding.
Mikawa further expressed that the narrative will explore anxieties and human behavior reflective of the realities present in modern-day Japan.

Prior to the release of Shimai Youhei, June 25 JST will mark the debut of Days With My Stepsister‘s 14th volume (also a MF Bunko J publication). Earlier this year, in April, the third volume of Mikawa’s Jimi na Ojisan, Jitsu wa Eiyuu deshita. ~Jikaku ga nai mama Musoushitetara, Mei no Dungeon Haishin de Sarasareteta you desu~ fantasy series was introduced.
