Image source: Genshin ImpactGenshin Impact is discontinuing support for PlayStation 4, as part of the open-world fantasy RPG’s newly revealed device and system requirement modifications.
According to an official statement, the revised requirements are necessary to “support future version updates and optimize game performance,” and that the requirements will be elevated “starting with the ‘Song of the Welkin Moon’ version.” A separate statement on the Genshin Impact website about the termination of PS4 support notes “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size.”
The PS4 version of the gacha game will be removed from PlayStation Store commencing on September 10 at 6 AM UTC+8. This will be succeeded by the end of in-game purchases on February 25, 2026 at 6 AM UTC+8 and the cessation of updates on August 4, 2026 at 6 AM UTC+8.
After support for updates halts, unclaimed items purchased from the PlayStation Store will be claimable on PlayStation 5.

As for other platforms, the changes (which aren’t the first of their kind) consist of Genshin Impact requiring a minimum of 6th-gen processors on PCs and Android devices needing at least Android 10.0. The complete list of requirements is available here.
The PS4 was one of the original platforms that Genshin Impact launched on back in 2020, alongside PC and mobile. In 2024, it was declared that the PS4 version’s visual performance would be downgraded “compared to the current version” following the Version 5.0 update.
Genshin Impact was also released on Xbox Series X/S, although it’s unclear when it will be available on the Nintendo Switch.
The announcement of the new modifications follows the recent Version 5.8 launch.
