GKIDS has announced it has secured theatrical distribution rights for Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie in North America. The company will showcase the compilation film in theaters across the nation in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions beginning July 16, 2025.
The compilation film is also set to start screenings in Japan on May 30, 2025. It was initially revealed in August 2024 during Juju Fest 2024.
GKIDs summarizes the film’s primary synopsis as:
Before they became foes, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were friends and high school classmates. These two powerful sorcerers are assigned the critical role of safeguarding Riko Amanai, a student marked for sacrifice as the Star Plasma Vessel, until she can complete her purpose. As they are chased by a religious cult and other curse users, they are the sole sorcerers capable of undertaking this daunting mission – yet this undertaking will alter their fates and test them in unimaginable ways. The cherished and emotionally resonant “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc from the global hit JUJUTSU KAISEN returns to cinemas, elevating the experience for both fans and newcomers alike.
The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” marked the inaugural arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, with Shota Goshozono (storyboard artist and episode director for Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, and Chainsaw Man Episode 8) taking the directorial helm from Sunghoo Park, commencing on July 6, 2023. Following the conclusion of this arc, the anime series paused for a few weeks before continuing with the “Shibuya Incident Arc.” MAPPA handled the animation production.
An anime adaptation of the manga’s “Culling Game Arc” was confirmed shortly after the conclusion of Season 2. Crunchyroll is actively streaming the TV anime series and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel spinoff anime film worldwide, outside of Japan.
This anime adaptation is based on the supernatural action manga authored by Gege Akutami, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from March 5, 2018, through September 30, 2024. A total of 30 tankobon volumes were published.
