'Though I Am an Inept Villainess' English Dub Trailer Unveils New Voice Cast

TOHO Co., Ltd. has released a new English dub trailer for body-swap anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess, giving fans a first look at the English-language voice cast. Following the recent release of the original Japanese-language version, the English dub will be available on July 26 (8:45 a.m. PT / 24:45 JST) on Crunchyroll, Hulu/Disney+, and Netflix (Asia).

The series adapts Satsuki Nakamura’s critically acclaimed light novel and manga set in an imperial court. The plot revolves around Kou Reirin, a beloved noblewoman who magically finds herself swapped into the body of the condemned villainess Shu Keigetsu.

The newly announced English-dub cast includes:

  • Brianna Knickerbocker (Re − Starting Life in Another World, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Genshin Impact) as Kou Reirin
  • Rebecca Wang (Solo Leveling, Street Fighter 6, Fate/strange Fake) as Shu Keigetsu

Though I Am an Inept Villainess is helmed by Mitsue Yamasaki, featuring series composition by Yoshiko Nakamura, character design by Ai Kikuchi, music by Yukari Hashimoto, and animation production from Doga Kobo. The opening theme, “Sunny,” is performed by milet, while the ending theme, “Shooting Star,” is performed by Rokudenashi.

Synopsis: As maidens from the Five Clans vie for the Crown Prince’s affection, envious Keigetsu resorts to forbidden magic to exchange bodies with the cherished Reirin. This switch does not promise joy for Keigetsu; her newly acquired body’s frailty leaves her on the brink of death. At the same time, Reirin, now bearing the appearance of a despised outcast, must confront the consequences of Keigetsu’s deeds in a perilous trial.
