© J3D © NM/S A 12th new “Kaiju Hyakkei” seasonal showcase visual has been unveiled for the forthcoming Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, featuring Gen Narumi engrossed in a game on his phone during a break. The second season is anticipated to debut in Japan on July 19, 2025.
A new forthcoming video game from Akatsuki Games is set to launch on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam at a later yet-to-be-announced date. Pre-registrations commenced on April 26, 2025, surpassing 200,000 global pre-registrations in May.
The anime adaptation is based on Naoya Matsumoto’s action manga series that started on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online platform on July 3, 2020. As of March 2025, fifteen tankobon volumes have been published. VIZ Media has licensed the manga for distribution in English for North America.
The manga has also led to spinoff titles such as Kaiju No.8: B-Side and Kaiju No. 8 Relax. Additionally, a four-chapter side-story light novel written by Keiji Ando was launched on November 4, 2022.

The main synopsis of the first season details a story centered around Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old who aspires to join The Defense Force and fulfill a promise made to a childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. He forms a friendship with a new coworker, Reno Ichikawa, while clearing away Kaiju remains, whose ambition to join The Defense Force motivates Kafka to achieve his childhood dream of passing the entrance exam and teaming up with Mina to safeguard humanity. After a small Kaiju embeds itself within Kafka, he acquires superhuman strength and abilities suited for battling Kaiju. He strives to gain the trust of his human colleagues, overcome increasingly formidable Kaiju, and protect the world.
