A teaser trailer and visual showcase the duo mentioned above, with the trailer also hinting at the hitman’s skills with poison. The voice cast includes Haruki Ishiya (voicing hitman Hikaru Gero) and Shion Wakayama (voicing marriage swindler Mei Kinosaki).
In terms of production details, MARRIAGETOXIN is produced by BONES Film, with Motonobu Hori (Metallic Rouge, Super Crooks, Carole & Tuesday) serving as the director. Other key crew members include:
• Series composition and scriptwriting by Kimiko Ueno (Ranma ½ remake series composer and co-scriptwriter, the upcoming Sanda)
• Character design and chief animation director: Kohei Tokuoka (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity)
• Music composition by: yuma yamaguchi (Undead Murder Farce, the upcoming Goodbye, Lara)
• Production and supervision handled by: BONES

The reason behind Hikaru and Mei joining forces is that the former belongs to the Poison Masters Clan. Even though romance and marriage are not his priorities, he is determined to find a bride so his sister won’t have the pressure to bear the next heir. Initially, Mei is targeted for assassination by Hikaru, but circumstances lead to their partnership.

The manga was first published in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump + in 2022 and has 14 volumes as of August 2025. It ranked 8th in the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022’s web category and is available for English readers on Manga Plus.
