The final anime season of 2025 is drawing closer! In anticipation of Fall 2025’s arrival, Anime Trending’s writers convened to discuss the one show from the impending season that they’re most excited to see.

Melvyn Tan: Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle

Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle details
Core staff: Director Yuji Tokuno (storyboard artist and director for OSHI NO KO Episode 10, YAIBA: Samurai Legend Episode 6), series composer Naruhisa Arakawa (More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers), and character designer Sumie Kinoshita (Spy Classroom)
Studio: Feel.
Premiere date: October 7, 2025
Adaptation or original: Adaptation

Despite having known about the light novels for a while, I still find it challenging to understand what Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle entails beyond the synopsis of the first volume. The only definite thing I know is that there is a popular individual as the lead and it takes place in a high school setting. A rather vague notion, indeed, but given my inclination towards coming-of-age tales, it was sufficient to motivate me to at least watch the premiere episode.
What truly has me excited for the anime is the teaser trailer and the fact that it marks Yuji Tokuno’s first venture as a series director. Tokuno initially caught my eye with the visuals from 【OSHI NO KO】 Episode 10, and again with the striking presentation of YAIBA: Samurai Legend Episode 6. Therefore, seeing their name in the lineup significantly boosted my interest.
The teaser trailer reinforced my expectations, immersing me in a vibe that felt both dazzling and nostalgic, while providing glimpses of some truly captivating shots — the one featuring someone ascending stairs through a wellhole is the kind of unique framing that excites me. I suspect that most, if not all, of those moments are from the first episode — which is likely to be storyboarded and directed by the series director — but I hope Tokuno’s involvement has attracted other talented individuals to the project so that this story of youth can shine brightly.

Repeatedly, I have picked up this manga at the bookstore alongside its many queer horror counterparts, only to put it back down — partly due to concerns about potential visual triggers, but mostly because I worry about how close to home the narrative might hit. Yet now, with an anime adaptation on the horizon… I can’t avoid the impending yuri forever!
When high schooler Hinako narrowly escapes a monster’s jaws, she is rescued by the mermaid Shiori, who promises to safeguard her — with the condition that she can consume Hinako once she grows into the ideal meal. In the primary trailer, Hinako appears eager to meet this pact, even wishing for Shiori to devour her sooner rather than later. I’m curious to see how (or if) the series will draw parallels between the girls’ queerness and their literal, insatiable instinct: the urge to devour or be devoured by another, alongside the innate fear that such emotions can invoke.
Honestly, I’m not as captivated by the animation as I am by the potential inherent in its storyline. While the unsettling gazes of both female leads are quite poignant, the remainder of their designs resembles many coming-of-age school anime, and the “horror” aspect thus far seems restricted to sporadic blood splatters. However, the visuals still hold a decent standard, and paired with the brief yet impactful vocal performances glimpsed in the trailer, I remain hopeful that we have yet to observe the pinnacle of this production.

What transpires when beastfolk enroll at a school full of ordinary humans? That’s the central theme of With You, Our Love Will Make It Through. However, before romance can blossom, I can’t help but ponder: how would such a relationship even commence?
Upon first encountering the name and trailer for this forthcoming anime, I presumed I was in for a standard high school romance. Mari, the lead heroine, even starts her dialogue by mentioning her mundane school life. Naturally, when a character makes such a declaration, it tends to turn out to be anything but mundane, yet I anticipated it would be a simple twist or gimmick influencing her journey. However, within moments of the trailer commencing, I had to discard all my preconceptions when a light blue canine/fox-like character named Tsunagu appeared on screen. Although I found Tsunagu’s towering height somewhat implausible for a high school student, his presence immediately distinguished him, and I am left wondering why he transferred to a school where he is bound to stand out.
Despite this twist, the trailer still encompasses the typical visuals associated with romance anime, such as gentle spring colors and adorable chibi moments that highlight the characters’ feelings. Observing Tsunagu blushing at Mari’s words and actions evokes a sweet, vulnerable charm that sparks my curiosity about how their love story will unfold under these unconventional circumstances.

After its announcement in 2021, I thought my enthusiasm might have to wane, having heard no updates about the anime adaptation for three years. Therefore, I was thrilled when Aniplex finally unveiled additional details about the series. I can finally witness my favorite characters being brought to life in this latest adaptation this upcoming fall!
Even though this anime will draw from the manga adaptations rather than the game itself, my expectations are exceedingly high. The animation quality appears fantastic, particularly the character designs. They have been adapted superbly and closely resemble the artwork created by Black Butler’s author, Yana Toboso, for the game. Many voice actors are also reprising their roles in this series, excluding Yuken Enma, the main protagonist of the season, which elevates my hopes for the anime more than ever as I envision them delivering their beloved lines once again.
While I am admittedly a fan of this franchise and will watch the series regardless of how this adaptation fares, after witnessing the stunning visuals and the trailer, I have immense hopes for the anime to adhere as closely as possible to at least the manga adaptation it is based on, if not the game, while simultaneously retaining the unique charm that has made this franchise loved by many across the globe.
