Netflix has confirmed its renewal of the 2025 BET TV series for a second season. The series is a loose English live-action adaptation of Homura Kawamoto and Toru Naomura’s Kakegurui manga series.
Lead star Miku Martineau, portraying Yumeko Kawamoto (the live-action English version of Jabami), announced the second season in a video shared from Netflix Geeked’s Twitter/X account. The premiere date for the second season has not been revealed at this time.

The initial season comprised 10 episodes and was launched on Netflix on May 15, 2025.
The live-action show is led by showrunner Simon Barry (Warrior Nun) and Boat Rocker Media, with Barry also taking on the role of executive producer. Filming and production occurred in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Additional executive producers include Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell.
In addition to Martineau, the cast of the live-action series features:

  • • Ayo Solanke as Ryan Adebayo
  • • Eve Edwards as Mary Davis
  • • Clara Alexandrova as Kira Timurov
  • • Hunter Cardinal as Michael
  • • Anwen O’Driscoll as Riri Timurov and Wendy
  • • Aviva Mongillo as Dori Ahlstrom
  • • Ryan Sutherland as Suki Hennessey

The original Kakegurui manga series, authored by Kawamoto and illustrated by Naomura, started serialization in Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine on March 22, 2014. As of March 2025, Nineteen tankobon volumes have been published. A spinoff prequel manga titled Kakegurui Twin, illustrated by Kei Saiki, was launched in 2015 and concluded in 2023. Yen Press publishes the main manga in English as Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler –, in addition to the prequel spinoff.
The manga inspired two seasons of TV anime that aired in 2017 and 2019. It also led to a live-action Japanese TV drama in 2018, which aired for two seasons, as well as two Japanese live-action films, light novels, and a now-defunct mobile game launched in 2017.
