The sci-fi anime film AS ONE has unveiled a teaser trailer, showcasing its visual aesthetics and primary characters, while also announcing a release date set for August 22 JST.
The credits for the staff have been updated to disclose Ippei Gyobu (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury co-mechanical designer, Megalo Box Gear designer) as the mechanical designer.
AS ONE draws inspiration from the Square Enix arcade game Starwing Paradox. The original storyline of the anime follows You, a hopeful musician from contemporary Earth, who one day hears a plea for help in their mind and is enveloped by a brilliant light. Concurrently, robot mechanic Lako, in an attempt to halt colossal space debris from falling, slips into a coma and encounters You within their shared consciousness. Lako hails from the planet Meguriboshi, where two factions have engaged in a prolonged conflict over its energy resource and are currently striving for a ceasefire.
