Why do Japanese prefer cash?
Despite Japan's reputation for technological advancement, cash remains the preferred method of payment for most Japanese people. This is due to cultural factors such as privacy and modesty, safety concerns, convenience, debt aversion, and the lack of credit card reward programs. Cash also holds cultural significance in Japan and is supported by the government and infrastructure. While digital payments may become more common in the future, it is unlikely that cash will disappear completely from Japanese society.
