Adult Swim announced today it will debut a new action-comedy anime series Rooster Fighter on the evening of Saturday, March 14 at midnight ET/PT, as part of its Toonami anime/action block. The show is based on Shu Sakuratani’s manga of the same name.
Rooster Fighter follows “cock-about-town” Keiji. More than just any ordinary rooster — he’s humanity’s greatest defender! When strange creatures suddenly appear and begin attacking, he faces them directly while scoffing: “You make my crown curl!” His foes may be 10 stories tall, but nothing is larger than his stout heart and his fearsome battle cry — Kokekokko!
“Rooster Fighter is the kind of show that immediately answers the question ‘yes, but what if a rooster did it?’ and then never looks back,” said Michael Ouweleen, President, Adult Swim. “It’s absurd, wildly sincere, and filled with talon-powered action.”
Adult Swim will broadcast the 12-episode series in English every Saturday night at midnight starting March 14.
