The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE -Yotsuba Succession Arc- is set to arrive in theaters across the United States and Canada. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are bringing the film for a limited release on November 1, 3, and 4, 2026, featuring both Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub option.
This film marks the second theatrical release in the The Irregular at Magic High School franchise, continuing the narrative after Season 3 of the TV anime, which was broadcast in 2024. Directed by Jimmy Stone at animation studio Eight Bit, the story is adapted from Tsutomu Sato’s original light novel series. Following the film’s premiere in Japan, the production of the anime’s Part 2 was announced.
Yotsuba Succession Arc unfolds in 2096, as Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba near the end of their second year at Magic High School. They receive an invitation to the Yotsuba Clan’s New Year’s Banquet, where the family’s next head will be revealed.
Miyuki confronts the possibility of being chosen as the Yotsuba Clan’s successor, a role that would demand her to marry and could alter her relationship with Tatsuya. Simultaneously, assuming the position of clan head might grant her the power to alter Tatsuya’s status as a Guardian.

The Irregular at Magic High School is a light novel series penned by Tsutomu Sato, which debuted online in 2008 before being published by Dengeki Bunko in 2011. Taking place in the 2090s, it follows siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba at First High School, where Miyuki thrives academically while Tatsuya is seen as lacking talent, despite his concealed (overpowered) abilities and connections to the influential Yotsuba clan.
The series has grown into a widespread franchise, featuring various manga, anime seasons, and films that started with the inaugural anime in 2014. Sequels such as Magian Company and spin-offs like Maidens of Cygnus have extended the narrative beyond the high school environment, and the franchise has achieved over 22 million copies sold globally. The latest TV anime installment was Season 3, which aired from April to June 2024.
