This figure not only surpasses several opening weekend predictions (ranging from US$35 million to $60 million) but also exceeds the previous opening weekend record held by Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back, which grossed approximately US$61.6 million (adjusted for inflation from US$31 million).
The anime feature launched in 3,315 US theaters, including IMAX venues.
With this impressive opening, Infinity Castle has already overtaken the total US gross of 2020’s Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – the Movie: Mugen Train (US$49,505,008), which ranks as the second highest-performing anime film in the US. The next milestone to surpass is Mewtwo Strikes Back’s inflation-adjusted total gross of around US$170 million.
In Japan, Infinity Castle achieved a total gross of 31,425,916,900 yen (~US$212.7 million) as of September 8 JST, making it the third highest-grossing film of all time in the nation, approaching Spirited Away’s 31.6 billion yen (approximately 35.5 billion yen after inflation). In contrast to its US performance, Infinity Castle has yet to surpass the lifetime gross of Mugen Train in Japan.

Infinity Castle marks the beginning of a conclusive movie trilogy for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime adaptation, which initiated in 2019 with its first season and is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Koyoharu Gotouge. The upcoming films illustrate the final showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan’s demons.
