The character poses featured in the visual were previously shown in the teaser trailer released last week.

The series commenced publication in March 2011 and concluded with 32 volumes in September 2020, followed by a sequel series starting in October 2020. Yen Press summarizes the first volume as:
The year is 2095. Magic has been harnessed as a form of technology, and practicing magic has turned into a disciplined endeavor. Siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are about to commence their first year at the prestigious First Magic High School in Japan. However, the school’s strict regulations dictate that the talented Miyuki joins the elite Course 1, while her older brother, Tatsuya, is assigned to Course 2—and this is merely the start of their challenges!

The anime premiered in 2014 with a first season produced by Madhouse. Eight Bit later produced the following adaptations: The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Calls the Stars (2017), The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor’s Arc (2020), and The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc (2021). The Irregular at Magic High School initially started as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2008.
