©魚豊・講談社／『ひゃくえむ。』製作委員会The initial six minutes of the 100 METERS anime film, which premiered in Japanese cinemas on September 19 JST, are now available on YouTube.
100 METERS is an adaptation of Uoto‘s (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) first serialized manga and represents a new project by Kenji Iwaisawa (On–Gaku: Our Sound, the forthcoming Hina is Beautiful). GKIDS is set to release the film in North America in October, describing the storyline as follows:
100 METERS centers on Togashi, a track star born with an innate ability for running. As a child, he easily wins every 100-meter race. However, in sixth grade, he encounters Komiya, a transfer student who is determined yet technically lacking. While mentoring him, Togashi instills a new purpose in Komiya: to triumph regardless of the circumstances. As the years go by, Togashi and Komiya reunite as rivals on the track, exposing their true selves.
The film was showcased at Annecy 2024 as part of the Work-in-Progress segment and later featured at Annecy 2025 in the Official Selection category.
