（C）中村颯希・一迅社／「ふつつかな悪女」製作委員会A 2026 premiere date has been revealed for the forthcoming Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court TV anime.
A second teaser visual along with some cast information came alongside the release date announcement. This includes Manaka Iwami and Natsumi Kawaida as leading characters Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu, respectively.
（C）中村颯希・一迅社／「ふつつかな悪女」製作委員会Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasuga ~ Sugu Choso Torikae den~) is based on the light novel series written by Satsuki Nakamura and illustrated by Kana Yuki. Seven Seas Entertainment summarizes the books’ premise as follows: In the Kingdom of Ei, five clans present their maidens as imperial consorts—but only one will ascend as empress. Just as delicate and beautiful “court butterfly” Kou Reirin seems set to marry the crown prince, envious “court rat” Shu Keigetsu takes over her body! Reirin finds herself imprisoned as the conspirator, and her situation is grim… or is it? Now that she possesses a strong new body, not even the imminent threat of execution can deter her!
The light novel series started in 2020 and will release its 11th volume on September 30, 2025 JST. Additionally, there is a manga by Ei Ohitsuji.
