This series started airing in Japan on April 7, 2025, and is set to consist of 13 episodes.
Morikawa is part of a primary voice cast that includes:
Kenichi Suzuki (Fairy Gone, Cells At Work!, Drifters) is directing the anime, with Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) as the series screenwriter, Takahiko Yoshida (Cells At Work!, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen [2020]) handling character design, Haruko Nobori (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!) as color designer, Yukihiro Watanabe (Fuuto PI) as background art director, and Eiei Cho (T・P BON) as compositing director. BONES FILM is responsible for the animation production.
Additional staff includes Yingying Zhang as director of photography (The Case Study of Vanitas), Mizuki Sasaki (My Hero Academia season 5-7) as the 3DCG director, Kiyoshi Hirose (Fire Force) as editor, and Masafumi Mima (My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan) as sound director. Music composition is provided by Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Haikyu!!), Shogo Yamashiro, and Yuki Furuhashi.
The anime adaptation is derived from the superhero manga series created by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. This manga is a spinoff prequel to Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia series, taking place five years prior to the main storyline. It was first serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine on August 20, 2016, before moving to Shonen Jump+ in October 2016. The series concluded on May 28, 2022, releasing a total of 15 tankobon volumes.
A special one-shot chapter of the manga was recently made available on Shonen Jump+ in April 2025.
The main My Hero Academia anime series is set to premiere its final season sometime in October 2025. The first season debuted in 2016, while the recent seventh season aired in May 2024. Bones has managed the animation production through all prior seasons.
The anime series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Asia, with new episodes debuting weekly, concurrently with Japan. Additionally, Netflix, Ani-One Asia ULTRA, and Bilibili are streaming the series internationally.
