Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games is adapted from the manga created by Eri Ejima, which is serialized in KADOKAWA’s Monthly Comic Flapper and will release its ninth tankobon volume on June 23, 2025 JST. Seven Seas Entertainment outlines the storyline as follows:
Kuromi Girls’ Academy is a prestigious institution that holds high expectations for the behavior of its young ladies. Aya gets into this elite school on a scholarship and aims to blossom like her fellow student and idol Shirayui. However, Shirayui conceals a dark secret: she’s a fierce, game-savvy player who dominates the competition! Could their shared passion for intense video game battles lead to a stronger connection between them?
The anime was first announced in 2021, with its premiere set for 2025 unveiled in March.
Earlier this month, a collaboration visual combining the anime and the fighting game tournament EVO Japan 2025 was released.
