Starwing Paradox Prequel Film AS ONE Features JO1 Member Ruki Shiroiwa

The official Twitter/X account for the upcoming Starwing Paradox prequel anime film AS ONE announced that it has cast JO1 boyband member Ruki ‌Shiroiwa as the character Yo. This marks Shiroiwa’s debut in voice acting. The anime film is set to be released theatrically in Japan on August 22, 2025. A new promotional video and visual have also been unveiled, confirming the introduction of the new character.

Sadamoto was previously responsible for the character designs of the game, which was developed by BYKING and Square ENix. The anime visuals within the game were initially created by Sunrise.

The Starwing Paradox sci-fi arcade game launched in November 2018 and was active online until October 2021. The primary game mode involved 8v8 “high-speed” battles featuring the Air Real mecha. AZ-One refers to a pilot of the Air Real.

Comic Natalie describes AS ONE as a prequel that ties back to the original game. The protagonist is an aspiring musician named Yo, who one day hears a plea for help in their mind and is enveloped in white light. A robot mechanic named Rako, attempting to halt massive falling space debris, falls into a coma and meets Yo in their consciousness. During this period, there is an attempt at a ceasefire between two nations from the planet Meguriboshi, which have been in conflict over energy resources.
