The official website and Twitter/X for the ongoing Yaiba: Samurai Legend TV anime series have revealed a new voice cast member and main theme songs for the show’s upcoming second cour. The series first premiered in Japan on April 5, 2025, and is also available for streaming on Netflix and Hulu globally.
Voice actress Sayaka Senbongi is being added to the show’s voice cast in the role of Nadeshiko Yamato.
Takahiro Hasui (Mob Psycho 100 III director) is directing the new anime series, with Yoshimichi Kameda (Mob Psycho 100) as character designer and chief animation director, Takeshi Maenami (Brave Bang Bravern mechanical designer) as sub-character designer and main animator, Hirofumi Masuda as special effects director, Bamboo’s Yusuke Takeda (Komada – A Whisky Family) as background art director, Satoshi Hashimoto (Ranking of Kings) as color designer, Toru Fukushi (The Imaginary) as compositing director, Maiko Okada (Ranking of Kings) as animation producer, and Yutaka Yamada (Vinland Saga) and Yoshiaki Dewa (Hell’s Paradise) as music composers. WIT Studio is responsible for the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:
• Minami Takayama as Yaiba Kurogane
• Manaka Iwami as Sayaka Mine
• Yoshimasa Hosoya as Takeshi Onimaru
• Katsuyuki Konishi as Kenjuro Kurogane
• Junichi Suwabe as Musashi Miyamoto
• Isshin Chiba as Kagetora
• Kosuke Echigoya as Shonosuke
Gosho Aoyama’s Yaiba manga series was initially serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 7, 1988, to December 1, 1993, resulting in 24 total tankobon volumes being released. The manga won the 38th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Children’s category. VIZ Media has licensed the manga series for an English release and will debut the first volume in print on July 8, 2025.
The manga once inspired a 52-episode TV anime series from Pastel that aired from 1993 to 1994. The new anime will be under Aoyama’s full supervision.
