Fathom Entertainment, the top specialty distributor of content to theatrical partners globally, and worldwide producer of manga and anime VIZ Media will bring Episodes 1-3 of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity, from renowned creator Tite Kubo, to U.S. theaters nationwide for a limited theatrical premiere engagement before the broadcast and streaming of the final season of the influential anime series, June 25-29.
The next chapter of the beloved BLEACH saga, BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War won Anime Trending’s “Anime of the Year” in 2024. After its comeback in 2022 to adapt the franchise’s climactic arc, the series has gained traction across social media platforms and received MyAnimeList’s Best Anime of 2022, while consistently achieving critic and fan ratings as high as 9.4/10.
BLEACH’s revival underscores a longstanding legacy: one of Shonen Jump’s early “Big 3,” the property originally aired 366 episodes from 2004–2012 and helped shape a generation of U.S. anime fandom alongside One Piece and Naruto. The Royal Guard Squad Zero confronts Yhwach as he attempts to access the Royal Palace. However, the Quincy King and his Royal Guard shatter Squad Zero’s potent Bankai and finally steps into the Reio Greater Palace.
Ichibe Hyosube entrusts Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies to protect the Soul King, but due to Yhwach’s deception, Ichigo strikes down the Soul King with his sword.
The Soul King’s death mirrors the collapse of the Three Worlds, as anomalies and signs of destruction begin to manifest in all realms.
