‘Though I Am an Inept Villainess’ Previews Upcoming Arc with New Characters & Key Visual

Toho Co., Ltd. has announced significant details regarding the forthcoming second installment of the Though I Am an Inept Villainess anime series. After the conclusion of its first part, the series unveiled a new key visual along with additional cast members and their corresponding characters, in anticipation of its second cour titled “The First Royal Outing” Arc set to premiere in January 2027.

Adapted from Satsuki Nakamura’s award-winning light novel series, the TV anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess debuted in July 2026 and centered around the cherished Reirin, whose existence is turned upside down when the ostracized Keigetsu utilizes forbidden magic to swap their bodies, prompting both characters to navigate their reshaped lives. The story will progress into a new chapter next year, following the events depicted in the first part.

Joining the voice cast are Yuichi Nakamura (Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World, My Hero Academia) as Rerien’s eldest brother Keikou and Shunichi Toki (Sentenced to Be a Hero, Blue Lock) as her second-eldest brother Keishou. Additionally, Chiaki Kobayashi (Hell’s Paradise, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) voices Unran, the young leader of a southern village who plays a vital role as the narrative unfolds.

Synopsis: Thanks to Reirin and Keigetsu’s efforts, the series of troubles generated by a curse in the inner court has subsided. Through their body swap, both characters have gained insights into each other’s personalities, resulting in a budding friendship.

Time passes, and we arrive in early autumn. The ritual for a bountiful harvest (the Harvest Festival) is scheduled in the southern lands governed by the Shu clan, with Keigetsu taking charge of the preparations in the absence of a guardian consort. Meanwhile, Reirin ardently supports Keigetsu and eagerly anticipates her first royal outing.

However, upon their arrival, an unexpected accident occurs, causing the ritual to be disrupted. An agitated Keigetsu’s magic spirals out of control, leading to yet another body swap with Reirin. In the midst of the chaos, the post-swap Reirin is abducted…!

Reirin’s two protective brothers, Kou Keikou and Kou Keishou, become involved, resulting in an unforeseen escalation of events. Who is the new mastermind lurking to set up Keigetsu…? The captivating tale of exchanged destinies unfolds with two contrasting girls—the curtain rises on the second act, “The First Royal Outing” Arc!

“The First Royal Outing” Arc of Though I Am an Inept Villainess will start streaming in January 2027. TOHO animation will provide announcements regarding the specific premiere date and additional updates in due course.
