CITY The Animation is scheduled to debut on July 6 JST (effectively July 7 at 12 AM JST). It is adapted from the manga by Nichijou’s Keiichi Arawi, which was serialized from 2016 to 2021 in Kodansha’s Morning. Kodansha USA outlines the storyline as:
From Keiichi Arawi, the beloved creator of nichijou, this surreal-slapstick series centers around a broke college student, Midori Nagumo, living in a regular city inhabited by extraordinary people. As this reckless girl dashes around, she sets the city into motion.
Midori finds herself in a predicament. She is in debt, and her landlady is pressuring her for overdue rent. Her best friend is unwilling to lend her money since she has caught onto her schemes. Perhaps some bullying might offer a solution. Or perhaps a touch of minor theft? Neither option is feasible in the long run. Maybe securing a job could resolve her issues… But working means sacrificing time she could spend on amusing escapades in the bustling city…
The anime showcased an impressive first teaser in March, while the initial key visual was revealed in February.
