The anime adapts the cooking manga series by AOASHI’s Yugo Kobayashi, which first started serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine on September 6, 2018. Five tankobon volumes have been published as of April 2025.
The manga has also inspired a 10-episode live-action TV drama series by TBS that aired in 2023.
Fermat no Ryori tells the story of an aspiring mathematician named Gaku Kitada, who takes on a part-time job at his academy’s cafeteria after facing some career challenges. A fortuitous encounter with the skilled young chef Kai Asakura leads him down a path where mathematics and culinary arts converge.
