NTT DOCOMO will terminate its U.S. digital manga service MANGA MIRAI on December 15, 2026, which is less than two years after its introduction in March 2025. Customers will have the option to transfer eligible purchased titles to NTT Solmare’s MangaPlaza.
New account sign-ups, manga acquisitions, and the distribution of the MANGA MIRAI app ceased at 7 p.m. Pacific Time on August 19. Additionally, access through the app was also discontinued at that time, though purchased titles will still be available through the MANGA MIRAI website until the service ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on December 15.
MANGA MIRAI commenced in March 2025 as a platform tailored for U.S. audiences for English-language Japanese manga. As reported by DOCOMO, its library expanded to over 28,000 volumes spanning 2,400 titles. The company cited the “current business environment” as a factor for the service’s discontinuation.
After the shutdown, customer data and eligible purchased collections will be moved to MangaPlaza, NTT Solmare’s U.S. digital comics platform. Users wishing to transfer their purchases must establish a MangaPlaza account using the same email address linked to MANGA MIRAI by September 30.

Not all titles will be transferred. Manga obtained for free, which includes paid titles available at $0 through promotions, along with some purchased titles, are excluded. A list of paid titles that cannot be migrated is anticipated to be released around mid-October. DOCOMO states that affected customers will receive separate notifications regarding refunds.
Users under 18 as of September 30 cannot move their libraries as they are ineligible to create an account under MangaPlaza’s policies. Customers who prefer not to have their account information or purchases transferred may opt out through MANGA MIRAI by September 30. Those customers will also be provided with information about refunds.
