Image source: Press releaseMore information about the recently announced SHUTEN ORDER game has surfaced, revealing its worldwide release date on September 5 and its classification as a “multi-genre adventure game.” It was already established that it will be available on Nintendo Switch and Steam.
The storyline centers around the assassination of a leader of a religious group known as the Shuten Order during a festival commemorating the establishment of their nation, Shuten. The amnesiac main character awakens to be informed by two “self-proclaimed ‘angels’” that they are the founder of the group, revived through “divine power.” Regrettably, the incomplete resurrection leaves them without memories and only four days to live.
“To survive, the protagonist must navigate ‘God’s trial’: identify and eliminate their murderer,” states the Steam page description.
Adding to the peculiarity, the environment is characterized as a “world immersed in despair and chaos,” while the Shuten Order is said to be “longing for the end of humanity.”

SHUTEN ORDER’s “multi-genre” classification derives from the approach taken with its five routes. Each route features different suspects and gameplay styles. One is labeled as “Stealth Action Horror” with top-down “action-style gameplay” and puzzles, while another draws inspiration from escape rooms.
There’s also a route focused on investigation and mystery-solving, a visual novel route that allows switching between multiple perspectives “to unveil survival paths,” and a dating sim route that involves winning over three heroines. To unlock the final chapter, all five routes must be completed.

Moreover, the Switch version will offer an exclusive pre-order bonus in the shape of the Kazutaka Kodaka-supervised novel Before the Murders case: Manji Fushicho. This narrative occurs five years prior to the game and follows the origins of the main character before she takes on the role of Minister of Security, earning the title “Queen of Heretic Hunting.”
Kodaka, recognized for the Danganronpa series, is among the game’s co-writers alongside Takumi Nakazawa and Takekuni Kitayama. The creative team also includes simadoriru as the illustrator and Masafumi Takada as the music composer.
Neilo is the development studio behind SHUTEN ORDER, while Tookyo Games is credited with the planning. Spike Chunsoft, Inc. is responsible for the international release of the game.
