Song of the Year represents one of the six main categories of the awards, which launched this year and is noted as “Japan’s largest international music awards event.” Additional nominees include YOASOBI‘s “IDOL,” the opening track of OSHI NO KO Season 1, and Mrs. GREEN APPLE‘s “Lilac,” the opening track for Oblivion Battery.
Although “IDOL” did not win Song of the Year, it secured the title of “Top Global Hit from Japan,” one of the other major categories at the Music Awards Japan 2025.
In contrast, Mrs. GREEN APPLE received the award for Best Artist of the Year.

The remaining main categories comprise New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Song Asia.
The announcement of the principal winners took place on the second day of the ceremony, following the reveal of results in numerous other categories.
