©2025「秒速5センチメートル」製作委員会A teaser trailer for the live-action film adaptation of Makoto Shinkai‘s 5 Centimeters Per Second has been unveiled, featuring a recognizable melody from the original anime alongside the previewed scenes.
It was also revealed that young Takaki Tono and Akari Shinohara will be portrayed by Haruto Ueda and Noa Shiroyama, respectively. In addition to appearing in the teaser, the pair are showcased in two new visuals.
The live-action 5 Centimeters Per Second is set to debut in Japan on October 10 JST. The original 63-minute anime film was launched in 2007 and narrated its story over three chapters, starting in the 1990s and concluding in the 21st century. Netflix outlines the anime’s story as:

Inseparable fourth-graders Takaki Tonoo and Akari Shinohara – bound by a love of books – gradually begin to drift apart as their families relocate.
The anime has inspired a novelization by Shinkai, and also led to a manga adaptation and the novel 5 Centimeters Per Second: One More Side, which reveals Akari’s perspective.
