REMOW Co., Ltd. has revealed the new teaser trailer for the anime adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani’s manga Liar Game, featuring clips from the upcoming series produced by the acclaimed animation studio Madhouse (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Chi: On the Movements of the Earth). The anime is set to start airing and streaming in April 2026. Information about international streaming platforms will be provided later.
In addition to the trailer, a new teaser visual has been launched, highlighting the main characters Nao Kanzaki and Shinichi Akiyama. This visual accompanies the announcement of their respective voice cast, Saya Hitomi (Anne Shirley, Trillion Game) as Nao Kanzaki and Takeo Otsuka (The Apothecary Diaries [Oshi no Ko]) as Shinichi Akiyama.

Nao Kanzaki is a kind-hearted and trusting college freshman — so innocent that she’s earned the moniker “Naive Nao.” Despite often ending up in tears from being misled, she is naturally expressive, cheerful, strong-willed, and full of energy. When she gets pulled into the Liar Game, she turns to a former genius con artist named Akiyama for assistance.
“When I found out that I had passed the audition, my mind went completely blank from shock and happiness, and as soon as I said, ‘I’ll do my best,’ I couldn’t help but cry. Once the recording began, I found myself striving to keep pace, feeling a strong desire to grow just like Nao does,” said Hitomi. “I’m now fully committed to this project with that same ‘foolishly honest’ spirit. Shinichi Akiyama was once a brilliant con artist who served time for fraud after dismantling a corrupt multi-level marketing scheme. He earned a Master’s in Psychology from the prominent Teito University. Unable to ignore Nao as she enters the Liar Game, he joins her in the challenge. With a sharp intellect, precise judgement, and bold tactics, he faces opponents without hesitation.

Additionally, the production team has welcomed the talented Yugo Kanno as the music composer for the series. His extensive experience includes anime work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Psycho-Pass movies, Ajin: Demi-Human, Blame!, and Star Wars: Visions – The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.
“The live-action Liar Game has achieved legendary status, and I can still vividly remember the music by Yasutaka Nakata. For this anime adaptation, I started by re-reading the original manga and aimed to create a new realm of Liar Game through music — one that differentiates itself from the live-action version,” Kanno stated. “Deception and truth. Light and shadow. The duality of human nature. I’ve infused these emotional conflicts that oscillate between extremes into the melodies and rhythms of this score.”

In the two decades since Chapter 1 of Kaitani’s Liar Game was initially published (serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2005-2015), this relentless tale of lies and strategy that uncovers the light and dark sides of the human psyche has captivated readers worldwide. Liar Game has continued to create excitement across multiple media formats over the years, including a live-action TV drama in 2007, a live-action film in 2010, and a stage play in 2023.
The anime adaptation produced by Madhouse is under the direction of chief director Yuzo Sato, director Asami Kawano, and series composition/screenwriter Tatsuhiko Urahata. The creative team also features character designer Kei Tsuchiya, sub character designer Ai Yokoyama, director of photography Hironobu Hatanaka, VFX supervisor Michiya Kato, editor Mariko Tsukatsune, and sound director Kisuke Koizumi (sound production by Bit Grooove Promotion), with art boards by Hideyuki Ueno and art settings by Shinji Sugiyama.
