Within the trailer, viewers can listen to the newly introduced opening song “ResoNAnce” performed by Araki.
9-nine- Ruler’s Crown draws inspiration from the PALETTE-developed visual novel series 9-nine-, which premiered in 2017. The episodes of the visual novel began releasing on Steam with English support in 2019. On Steam, 9-nine-: Episode 1 is described as:
9-nine- Episode 1 is the inaugural volume in a series of supernatural mystery games, with this first episode focusing on a narrative surrounding Miyako Kujo. The entries in the 9-nine- series inhabit the same setting and universe, but each installment centers on a different heroine. The story is set in the town of Shiromitsugawa, where mysterious Artifacts grant extraordinary powers to their Users. It explores themes of deepening trust and budding romance between the protagonist and the heroine against a backdrop of a murder mystery involving a series of supernatural killings. Each game presents an independent narrative that can be enjoyed in isolation. We hope you appreciate the journey that is the 9-nine- series.

The all-ages edition of 9-nine- was launched for Windows in Japan in 2021, followed by releases for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022. This anime features the same primary cast as that version.
