The Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat light novel series, featuring a protagonist reborn as a vampire, is currently in production for an anime.

The light novels, authored by Fire head and illustrated by KeG, first appeared in 2021 under publisher TO Books and will release its fourth volume on August 15, 2025 JST. J-Novel Club outlines the story as follows:
Reincarnated as a vampire daughter to a noble father and his rejected concubine, Mercedes Grunewald has always anticipated that one day her father will select an heir who isn’t her. But what will happen to her family when that moment arrives? Her mother lacks skills, their maid is elderly, and Mercedes is merely a young child. How will they manage in the world alone? Fortunately, dungeon crawling is a task that anyone can undertake—even a small child. To support her family, Mercedes embarks on training at the tender age of a kindergartener, and because she hails from a vampire nation, she possesses the potential to grow strong. In her previous life, she met an untimely end without fulfillment, but she vows that this time will be different. Deep within the dungeons, she is resolute in her quest to discover something that will complete her moon.

Mercedes and the Waning Moon was originally published as a Shousetsuka ni Narou web novel starting in 2018. The light novels have also led to a manga adaptation.
