Class Will Be Back in Session for Season 2 of Kill Blue

After the airing of the Season 1 finale of Kill Blue featuring the episode “Life Paths,” 12 DMM.com announced that a second season of the anime adapted from the Weekly Shonen Jump manga is currently in production.

To celebrate this announcement, original manga creator Tadatoshi Fujimaki, renowned for his works Kuroko’s Basketball and ROBOT×LASERBEAM, released a hand-drawn illustration showcasing protagonist Juzo Ogami, with the caption “Season 2 confirmed!!,” along with the following remarks:

“Thanks to all your support, Season 2 has been officially confirmed! A massive thank you to everyone involved in the anime production, and to all the fans who have supported us throughout this journey,” Fujimaki expressed. “While specific details regarding the timing and content are yet to be finalized, I hope it’ll be another laid-back, enjoyable Kill Blue that you can kick back and appreciate, just like Season 1. So please, sit back, relax, and stay tuned!”

The excitement surrounding the upcoming second season will carry into Anime Expo this weekend, featuring the franchise’s official panel titled “Shonen Jump Anime Kill Blue – Special Homeroom -“ set for Friday, July 3 at noon in the Platinum Ballroom of the JW Marriott Los Angeles. Fujimaki will make a rare appearance for a live illustration demonstration, alongside Weekly Shonen Jump editor Harumi Sugiura and DMM.com chief producer Noboru Yamada, engaging in a comprehensive discussion on the franchise, its characters, and what lies ahead. Fujimaki will also participate in an official AX autograph signing session.

Synopsis: Juzo Ogami is a legendary hitman who has always succeeded in his missions, regardless of their complexity. One day, after eliminating a formidable organization, he is stung by a mysterious wasp and collapses. Upon awakening, the formidable 39-year-old assassin finds himself transformed into a 13-year-old boy! Before he can even comprehend the situation, his boss assigns him a new task: “In that body, infiltrate a middle school.” What follows is an unforeseen school life brimming with colorful classmates, youthful chaos, and imminent danger. Will Juzo be able to return to his original self? Or will the assassins pursuing him end his second life before it has even started?

Produced by studio CUE (Junket Bank), Kill Blue is helmed by animation supervisor & series composition chief Hiro Kabuaragi and animation director Yasunori Ide, featuring character design by Miho Daidoji, art direction by Taketo Gonpei, color design by Shiho Suzuki and Yoshinori Horikawa, and music by Ryo Konishi. The opening theme is “ATTITUDE” by aespa, while the ending theme is “KILL SHOT” by RIIZE.

The first seven volumes of the manga can be found in the U.S. from VIZ Media, with volume eight set for release on August 11.
