Crunchyroll Streams Kamitsubaki City Under Construction in July 2025

Crunchyroll has revealed that it will stream the original TV anime series Kamitsubaki City Under Construction beginning in July 2025. The anime will start airing in Japan on July 3, 2025. 
The anime series will be available in the following regions: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. 

Crunchyroll outlines the main synopsis of Kamitsubaki City Under Construction as follows: 
Seven years after a significant disaster devastated humanity, a beacon of science and prosperity emerges in Kamitsubaki City. However, lurking within its shadows are Tesseractors, monsters spawned from human darkness. Only the Witchling, comprising five girls with voices that wield magic, can oppose them. With each note, they combat not only to safeguard the city’s peace but to mend a fractured world.
The recently licensed series was disclosed during this weekend’s upcoming Anime Central convention from May 16-18, 2025. It also aligns with the “Kamitsubaki Panel” scheduled for May 18, 2025, and KAF’s U.S. debut performance on May 17, 2025, at the convention. 
Kodai Kakimoto (BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! director, Narenare -Cheer for You!-) is taking on the roles of director and series screenwriter for Kamitsubaki City Under Construction. Additional staff includes PALOW (Eve’s “Mob” music video co-concept artist) as character designer, and Soki Tsukishima (Ingress the Animation co-series screenwriter and scriptwriter) as setting designer, supervisor, and original scenario creator. SMDE is responsible for the animation production. 
Meanwhile, the anime’s primary cast features members of the group V.W.P (-Virtual Witch Phenomenon-), which consists of:  

  • • KAF as Kafu Morisaki
  • • RIM as Rime Tanioki
  • • HARUSARUHI as Haru Asanushi
  • • ISEKAIJOUCHO as Sekai Yorukawa
  • • KOKO as Koko Rinne

Additional voice cast members include: 

  • • Ayane Sakura as Laplace
  • • Miyu Tomita as Hastur
  • • Yohei Azakami as Agni
  • • Yuichiro Umehara as Anemos
  • • Mai Todo as Kugel
  • • Shizuka Ito as the reconstruction section chief

A theatrical preview with the subtitle Majo no Musume –Witchling- will be available in Japan for two weeks prior to the series’ premiere, starting June 13, 2025. 
Kamitsubaki City Under Construction is part of the Kamitsubaki Studio’s Kamitsubaki City Under Construction “IP project,” which commenced in 2019.

Kamitsubaki Studio describes itself as “a creative label and new-age artist management which produces cutting-edge internet culture with the next generation of creators” with the goal to “research and develop the future of IP and entertainment through the development of artists, original stories, future XR experiences, and metaverse development.” It encompasses a music label, a story research and development division, a product development division, and a metaverse research and development division.
