©Yukinobu Tatsu/SHUEISHA,DANDADAN Production CommitteeThe DAN DA DAN anime’s production committee has released a statement regarding the track “Hunting Soul,” which was featured in Episode 6 of Season 2 during the performance of the fictional visual kei rock band HAYASii. The song recently encountered copyright issues in Japan, leading to its removal from streaming platforms shortly after its debut (this issue appears to have been resolved at the time of this writing). The statement expresses an apology and indicates that “constructive” discussions with the concerned parties are ongoing.
Furthermore, the statement revealed that the idea of notifying the singer and musician YOSHIKI and the visual kei band X JAPAN (which was co-founded by YOSHIKI) beforehand had not been considered. Reportedly, there were notable similarities between “Hunting Soul” and X JAPAN’s 1989 hit “Kurenai.”

In a now-deleted tweet, YOSHIKI mentioned that he found the situation amusing initially, but legal representatives reached out to him afterward concerning potential copyright infringement. He concluded the tweet by stating that contacting the appropriate individuals beforehand — as highlighted in the DAN DA DAN production committee statement — would have been the prudent approach in this scenario.
The only still-available tweet left by YOSHIKI on the issue (which was shared on August 18 JST) said, “I will leave this matter to the people involved.”
