As the latter part of Dan Da Dan gets ready to thrill and delight viewers, GKIDS has unveiled a teaser for the forthcoming episodes, spotlighting the charming character Kinta Sakata. During the series’ Anime NYC panel, Bryce Papenbrook (Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer) was announced as the English-language voice for Kinta. This follows the release of the original Japanese language teaser and a new key visual that was shared last Thursday, revealing Daichi Fujiwara as the Japanese-language voice for the character.

As the season transitions into its latter half, audiences can anticipate an exhilarating finale, focusing on the tumultuous impending kaiju conflict, along with the introductions of vibrant new characters — and ensuing romantic complications — within Momo and Okarun’s group. After last week’s power metal extravaganza, this week’s episode shifts to a classical music showdown between Okarun and Aira, the production details of which were elaborated on during the show’s panel at Anime NYC.

Dan Da Dan is an adaptation of author Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga bearing the same name, currently being serialized in Shonen Jump Plus by Shueisha under the Shonen Jump label. Produced by Science SARU (DEVILMAN crybaby, Inu-Oh, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off), the ongoing second season is co-directed by Fuga Yamashiro, who helmed the first season, alongside Abel Gongora, a longstanding Science SARU member known for directing the opening theme animation of the first season. Composer kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man, DEVILMAN crybaby) also makes a return. The opening theme song, “On The Way,” is performed by J-Pop sensation AiNA THE END, while the closing theme, “Doukashiteru,” is attributed to J-Rock artist WurtS.

For enthusiasts of anime’s revered creators, GKIDS will be re-releasing Satoshi Kon’s cult classic thriller Perfect Blue in theaters across the country, featuring a new 4K restoration on October 3. The inaugural feature from the iconic director of Paprika, Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers is celebrated as one of the greatest animated films ever made and stands as one of a few works Kon completed prior to his death in 2010.

This striking debut remains pertinent, presenting a prescient perspective on fragmented identities in an age dominated by public scrutiny in a digital environment. Kon’s daring commentary on the influence of technology and media in shaping our self-perception has only become more chilling over time. Perfect Blue is acknowledged as the first animated psychological thriller and received accolades at international festivals following its initial release in Japan in 1998.

Synopsis: “Who are…you?” Mima Kirigoe, a former pop idol, embarks on a bold transition to acting, taking on a role in a drama that involves a distressing assault scene, and even publishing a provocative nude photo book. Her radical transformation garners public attention, yet also incites discomfort among her fans, her manager, and even herself as she grapples with the swift departure from her pop idol past. As a stalker begins to trail her, a screenwriter and a photographer are murdered one after another. “Did I kill them?” Mima starts to question whether a split personality is gradually overtaking her, mirroring the character she portrays in the drama. Then “the other Mima,” the pop idol she was meant to have “graduated” from, confronts her…
