Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota is adapted from the romantic comedy manga by Fuyu Azuma, which ran in KADOKAWA’s Dragon Comics Edge from June 22, 2018, to June 9, 2023. A total of ten tankobon volumes were published. BookWalker Global and MangaPlaza have made the manga available in English digitally.
A new spinoff manga by Azuma was released on October 13, 2023, and has released two tankobon volumes as of April 2025.
Bookwalker Global outlines the main synopsis of Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota as:
Kashiwada is a girl who never displays emotions on her face. Oota constantly attempts to surprise her…but always falls short.
Kashiwada and Oota are classmates at a junior high school. Oota is continually plotting pranks to astonish Kashiwada, yet he fails every time. Kashiwada enjoys watching Oota, as he prominently expresses his feelings. They may seem like fundamentally different individuals, yet they share a deep care for one another.
“Look, Oota is up to something…” Other classmates savor witnessing the unique bond between them.
A heartwarming romantic comedy set in a typical junior high school in Japan.
