It was also revealed that Kenyuu Horiuchi is voicing the fake Lupin whom Zenigata faces off against in the new show.
Lupin the IIIrd: Zenigata to Futari no Lupin is a prequel to the upcoming Lupin the IIIrd The Movie: Fujimi no Ketsuzoku that’s described as a “hard action” title. The premise involves a terrorist bombing that leads Zenigata to a confrontation with the fake Lupin.
Lupin the IIIrd The Movie: Fujimi no Ketsuzoku will premiere shortly after its Zenigata-led prequel on June 27 JST. The new film, which is the latest in the Lupin the IIIrd line of entries that are directed by Takeshi Koike (Redline), is being advertised as being the first 2D Lupin III anime film in 30 years.
The Lupin III franchise, which features the exploits of the master thief Lupin III, began in 1967 with a manga created by the late Monkey Punch. The first anime series adaptation began airing in 1971.
