The prequel anime is set to start streaming on various Japanese streaming platforms on June 20, 2025, followed by its television broadcast debut on June 22, 2025.

Fujimi no Ketsuzoku is set to premiere shortly following Zenigata to Futari no Lupin on June 27, 2025, in Japan. This new film, the latest addition to the Lupin the IIIrd franchise helmed by Koike, promotes itself as the first 2D Lupin III anime film in three decades.
The Lupin III series, showcasing the adventures of master thief Lupin III, originally launched with the manga by Monkey Punch on August 10, 1967. The first anime series adaptation kicked off in 1971.
The franchise has inspired numerous other manga series and anime productions, including films, OVAs, crossovers, and a 3DCG motion picture. One of the earliest Lupin III films was The Castle of Cagliostro, directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
The storyline of Zenigata to Futari no Lupin is a prequel to Fujimi no Ketsuzoku, centering around a terrorist bombing that propels Zenigata into a clash with the counterfeit Lupin.
