Image source: @nyailiviNyaight of the Living Cat, which launched in July and features widely acclaimed live-action director Takeshi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal) as its chief director, is derived from the Mag Garden-published manga written by Hawkman and illustrated by Mecha-Roots. Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga as:
A virus spreads across the globe, turning all humanity into wild, ravenous, furry creatures: cats, to be specific. The few remaining human survivors take refuge in hidden places as they attempt to fend off the cat invasion. Kunagi, a man with no recollection of his past but a profound understanding of felines, battles to endure with just his intelligence and determination. However, the virus is transmitted simply through cuddling, and Kunagi finds it exceedingly difficult to resist the charms of kitties! Is his willpower adequate to survive this intense cat chaos?
In the meantime, 28 Years Later serves as the anticipated sequel to 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later (notably, 28 Weeks Later does not feature the same direction or screenplay as its predecessors). The storyline goes as follows:
Nearly three decades have passed since the rage virus escaped a bioweapons facility, and now, under continuous quarantine, some have managed to survive among the infected. A group of survivors exists on a remote island linked to the mainland by a single, heavily fortified causeway. When one of their members leaves the island for a mission into the treacherous mainland, he uncovers secrets, marvels, and horrors that have not only altered the infected but also other survivors.
Crunchyroll is currently streaming the Nyaight of the Living Cat anime.
