Sailor Moon’s Junichi Sato Attached as Chief Director to Aniseka Novel Award Winner’s Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation of the “Watashi no Ofuru de Waruindakedo” to Heroine ni Torimaki o Oshitsukerare, Totsuida Henkyou demo Yomezukaisaremasenga, Okage de Jiyuu ni Ikiremasu! novel, which won the 1st Aniseka Novel Award’s Grand Prize, will see Junichi Sato (Aria The Crepuscolo and Waccha! PriMagi!, Sailor Moon series director) taking on the role of chief director.

Additionally, it was revealed that NAGOMI, established in January 2024, will handle the animation production studio.

The plot of “Watashi no Ofuru de Waruindakedo” to Heroine ni Torimaki o Oshitsukerare, Totsuida Henkyou demo Yomezukaisaremasenga, Okage de Jiyuu ni Ikiremasu! follows the main character Princess Apricot, who finds herself wed to a follower of her unkind mother, described as a “used article.” The story is penned by Puri.

These announcements were made during the Aniseka Novel Award ceremony, marking the official start of the anime project.

The “Watashi no Ofuru de Waruindakedo” to Heroine ni Torimaki o Oshitsukerare, Totsuida Henkyou demo Yomezukaisaremasenga, Okage de Jiyuu ni Ikiremasu! anime adaptation is born out of the novel’s triumph at the Aniseka Grand Prize, which includes other rewards such as a book publication, a manga adaptation, and a cash prize of one million yen (~US$6,829).

The Aniseka Novel Award is organized by the entertainment company Straight Edge and the anime planning and production company Twin Engine. Several anime studios and teams take part in the selection process, including ZEXCS, WIT Studio, Studio Colorido, and NAGOMI.
