June 27 JST’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved anime movie has unveiled a new trailer dubbed “Kessen-hen” (“Decisive Battle”), which fittingly showcases extensive action sequences featuring the dragon characters.
The film acts as a sequel to the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid TV anime, with its storyline revolving around the introduction of Kanna’s young dragon father.
The Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid TV anime’s inaugural season debuted in 2017 and was followed by a sequel, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, in 2021. Additionally, there is a short form ONA titled MiniDora (Mini Dragon). The anime is drawn from the manga series published by Coolkyousinnjya, which is currently serialized in MANGA Action and has released 17 volumes as of June 2025.
Seven Seas Entertainment outlines the manga’s premise as:
Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who leads a mundane life, living alone in her tiny apartment–until she rescues a female dragon in peril. The dragon, known as Tohru, can magically turn into a cute human girl (complete with horns and a long tail!), who is determined to repay her debt of gratitude, regardless of Miss Kobayashi’s feelings. With a relentlessly affectionate dragon as a roommate, nothing is straightforward, and Miss Kobayashi’s ordinary life is about to take an exhilarating turn!
