TMS Entertainment’s BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai is now available for streaming on Netflix! To mark the launch, the studio has published a creditless version of the opening animation, accompanied by “FURUBOKO” from WANIMA, as well as the ending animation, featuring “Mountain Top” by Novel Core.
“I grew up with BAKI, mesmerized by its surreal universe and its legendary scenes, frequently reenacting them with friends,” expressed WANIMA. “For the Musashi Miyamoto arc, I crafted this song by intertwining the notion that ‘one’s way of life itself is a battle’ with the sentiment of persevering, even when completely defeated. I’m genuinely thrilled and thankful to be part of this project.”
Novel Core remarked, “I am deeply honored to be given the responsibility of the ending theme for BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai. Yujiro is the strongest — and thus the loneliest. Writing from Baki’s viewpoint as he pursues the origin of that strength, I named the song ‘Mountain Top’ to symbolize the price of strength, akin to how the air thins as you approach the peak. The philosophy surrounding strength that Baki has long depicted is embedded in the lyrics. I believe it resonates with the drama and intensity of the fierce confrontations with Musashi. I hope audiences find joy in uncovering the numerous musical intricacies and hidden elements throughout the piece, alongside the anime itself.”
The opening serves as a tribute to the BAKI franchise so far, showcasing vibrant portrayals of some of the anime’s most legendary battles, including “The Biggest Father-Son Fight in History.” It also hints at the high-stakes drama set to unfold in the new season of BAKI, with the famed swordsman Musashi Miyamoto in the spotlight. As tensions rise and an unexpected new contender steps into the arena, BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai promises to delight dedicated fans while providing an action-packed introduction for newcomers.
